NE NOW NEWS: Tripura royal scion and chairman of TIPRA – Pradyot Debbarma has appealed for peace in the state as fear and apprehension of attacks on minorities in the state grows over communal tensions in Bangladesh.
Pradyot Debbarma said that any kind of attack on minorities in Tripura as a retaliation to attacks on temples and puja pandals in Bangladesh by fundamentalist, must be condemned.
“Any motivated acts in our state where minorities are attacked as a retaliation to what has happened in Bangladesh must be condemned! Please remember Two wrongs don’t make a right…. I appeal for peace amongst all religions in our state,” tweeted Pradyot Debbarma.
On Wednesday, at least 15 people, including three security personnel, sustained injuries after activists of right-wing group Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) clashed with the police at Udaipur in Gomati district of Tripura as the group tried to take out a protest rally against attacks on minorities in Bangladesh.
In Agartala too, making a mockery of Section 144 CrPC, hundreds of VHP workers and activists thronged the streets to protest against attacks of Bangladesh Hindu minority.
