The President’s Parade marking the commissioning of the officer cadets of the 78th Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) Long Term Course and the 53rd BMA Special Course took place at the Bhatiary parade ground of BMA in Chattogram on Thursday.
According to a press release, Chief of the Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed reviewed the smartly turned out contingent and took salute of the colorful parade as the chief guest. He later distributed prizes among the meritorious cadets.
The Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said 255 officers of the 78th BMA Long Course and the 53rd BMA Special Course received commissioning through the parade. Of the commissioned officers in the Bangladesh Army, 231 were male and 24 female, who are expected to make significant contributions to the Army’s ongoing “Operation Covid Shield.”
Battalion Senior Under Officer Tamim Ahmed was awarded the most prestigious ‘Sword of Honour’ in the 78th BMA Long Course. Besides, Company Senior Under Officer Masruf Hasan Nayeem received the ‘Chief of Army Staff’ (CAS) Gold Medal’ for the best performance in military subjects.
The cadets formally took an oath and were adorned with the badges of rank by the chief guest and their respective guardians, the release added.
Earlier, the Chief Guest was received by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Army Training and Doctrine Command, Commandant of the BMA, and GOC of the 24 Infantry Division and Chattogram Area Commander upon his arrival at the BMA Parade Ground.
The parade was witnessed by parents and guardians of high-ranking military and civilian officers as well as the newly-commissioned officers. The Independent
