Community News Desk: Bangladesh missions abroad paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Monday to mark his historic 7th March speech in 1971 that galvanised the people of Bangladesh to prepare for the war of liberation.
On this occasion, the national flag was ceremonially hoisted at the Bangladesh High Commissions, Embassies and Consulates across the world.
Messaged received from the Bangladesh High Commissions in New Delhi, Colombo, Islamabad, Abuja, and Bangladesh Embassies in Washington DC, Beijing, Tokyo, Paris, Doha, Tashkent, Athens, Hanoi, Madrid, Seoul, Deputy High Commission in Mumbai, Bangladesh Consulates in Istanbul, Kunming that the missions observed the day in a befitting manner.
The officials, employees and expatriate Bangladeshis placed floral wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in respective missions and offered special prayers for Bangabandhu and his martyred family members and for the continued prosperity of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The senior officers of the missions read out the messages from President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The embassies also organised discussion meetings and screened documentary on the historic speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which he delivered on the March 7, 1971.
The chief of missions in their speeches said Bangabandhu’s historic speech was one of the most inspirational speech in world diplomacy apart from giving directives to the oppressed humanity to unite to free the Bengali nation. They said the historic speech was one of the most inspirational speeches in the world history towards world humanity.
In New Delhi, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran hoisted the national flag at chancery premises and led the members of the mission to place a floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the chancery building.
Describing the historic 7th march speech of Bangabandhu was one of the best speeches in the world, Imran said the speech inspired freedom loving people to converse under a single umbrella against the suppression, oppression, discrimination of the then, Pakistani autocrat rulers.
The mission’s officers read out the messages from President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The messages were ready out by Defence Adviser Bgd. Gen. Md. Abul Kalam Azad and Minister (Consular) Selim Md. Jahangir respectively. Minister (Press) Shaban Mahmood also took part in discussion.
