News Desk: Actress Meher Afroz Shaon and actress Sohana Saba have been released from the custody of the Detective Branch to their families.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DB police Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the matter on Friday.
They were detained on charges of conspiring against the state and extensively interrogated at DB office.
Meher Afroz Shaon was arrested from the capital’s Dhanmondi area on Thursday. Later, Saba was arrested.
National Film Award winner Shaon collected the Awami League nomination form from the Mymensingh Division to run for the reserved women’s seat in the 12th National Parliament election in 2024. Her mother, Tahura Ali, was a member of parliament for the reserved seat in the National Parliament.
On the other hand, there were allegations against Sohana Saba that during the anti-discrimination student movement in July last year, she and a group of artists were active against the movement in a WhatsApp group called ‘Alo Asbei’.
