Staff Correspondent: Students-people forcibly entered the residence of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital and carried out a rampage on Wednesday night.
The house was set on fire and demolished.
The protesters reached Dhanmondi 32, also known as the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, with a ‘Bulldozer Procession,’ chanting various slogans around 8:00 pm.
The procession was brought out in response to the announcement of Sheikh Hasina’s online speech from India.
At one stage, they began ransacking and setting fire to the Bhaban, venting their anger toward exiled Sheikh Hasina’s speech.
Eye-witnesses reported that people from different areas gathered, chanting slogans before breaking through the gate and storming inside.
Protesters spread throughout the premises, causing destruction.
Unidentified individuals set fire to Sudha Sadan in Dhanmondi, the residence of Wajed Miah, the late husband of Sheikh Hasina, around 11:00pm.
