Attacks on journalist in Tripura: Former CM Manik Sarkar lashes out at Governor Rameh Bias, compares him with Shikhandi

Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Monday sharply criticised Tripura Governor Ramesh Bias by calling him a “puppet” and also compared him the Mahabharata character “Shikhandi”.

Bias has had been a hardcore RSS worker in the past and Manik Sarkar, targeting this alliance, said, “People having strong links with the RSS are posted as Governors in the various states.”

“With his strong RSS links, it is quite common for the Governor to act the way he has been acting,” Sarkar further said while questioning the Governor’s role in the increasing number incidents of attack on journalists in the state.

He was addressing a gathering at West Tripura district CPI (M) office during a function organised in the remembrance of Bichandra Manu.

Manu and 13 other CPI (M) leaders were killed on October 12, 1988, while they were participating in a party programme and since then the CPI (M) has been organising this day as Bichandra Manu Martyr’s Day in the state. NE NOW NEWS
