Arakan News Desk: The Arakan Army (AA) says Myanmar’s regime only controls the Western Command headquarters in its Rakhine State power hub after several other camps have fallen.
It added that it continues its offensive to seize the last target.
The AA said it captured more than 30 junta positions across Ann, including battalion headquarters and large outposts.
On November 28, the AA and its allies attacked junta reinforcements that arrived in Ann by helicopter.
It said over 100 soldiers were killed during three days of clashes and a large number of weapons, ammunition and other equipment were seized.
The AA has seized Ann Airport and the road to Magwe Region, cutting off access to reinforcements. Analysts believe the Western Command will fall soon.
Fighting continues in Taungup, Gwa and Maungdaw townships with the junta responding with airstrikes and naval artillery bombardment.
The AA reported that it killed over 100 junta reinforcements in Gwa in late November while refusing to provide its casualty numbers.
The armed group has liberated 12 of Rakhine State’s 17 townships and Paletwa Township in neighboring Chin State.
