Mukesh Kr Singh: Following the detection of several COVID positive cases amongst the school’s teacher and students, the Kendriya Vidyalaya located at Panbari in Assam’s Dhubri district has been declared as a containment zone on Monday.
Dhubri deputy commissioner cum chairman of Dhubri District Dissaster Management Authority (DDMA) has ordered the school to close in order to prevent the virus from further spreading among the students and staff.
“In view of detection of 39 COVID-19 positive cases against the samples collected on January, 17 amongst the students/teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Panbari, it is felt necessary to immediately seal the premises of the said Kendriya Vidyalaya, Panbari as per SOP for COVID-19 in the interest of Public Health,” the order read.
“The premises of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Panbari where the COVID-19 positive persons were working till 29/12/2021 is hereby notified as Containment Zone for next 7 (Seven) days with effect from today (17/01/2022),” the order added.
The order further said, “In view of the sealing of the aforesaid area, a strict perimeter control has also been enacted in the said Containment Zone. No Vehicles and persons are allowed to enter & exit the Containment Zone while the concerned authorities have been directed to sanitize the entire areas as per protocol”.
Meanwhile, the third wave of COVID-19 has hit the Dhubri district hard as 226 COVID-19 positive cases were reported on Monday.
This is one of the highest for a single-day surge and is more than seven times the cases reported on Sunday.
On Monday, the total test conducted in Dhubri was 2150, of which 2088 tests were RAT and 62 tests were conducted through RTPCR.
Out of 226 positive cases detected on Monday, 193 people have been detected through RAT while 33 people have been found positive through the RTPCR test.
With Monday’s surge, there are 581 active cases in Dhubri district.
