Bangladesh mission in Doha honours community leaders

UNB: Bangladeshi Academic Community in Qatar (BACQ) under the patronage of Bangladesh Embassy in Doha organised the ‘Academic Excellence Award Ceremony’ recently in Doha City.

On the occasion, five distinguished faculties were presented with crests for their academic excellence. They are Dr. Khaled Khan, Dr. Anwarul Hasan and Dr. Shahriar Saadullah from Qatar University, Dr. Rubayet Hasan from Weill Cornell Medical College and Dr. Mizanur Rahman from the Gulf Studies Program, says a media statement.

Bangladesh Community Qatar (BCQ) was presented with a crest for its fruitful engagements for the betterment of the Bangladesh community in Qatar and Bangladesh Forum Qatar (BFQ) was also presented with a crest for its active role for the effective projection of business and investment opportunities of Bangladesh in Qatar. Engr Anwar Hossain Akon, President of BCQ and Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, President of BFQ received crests on behalf of the respective organisation.

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar Md. Jashim Uddin presented the crests to the awardees. Ambassador of Bangladesh, in his remarks, thanked the Bangladeshi diaspora in Qatar for their contribution both for Bangladesh and Qatar. Speakers at the ceremony highlighted the potential areas of collaboration between educational institutions in Bangladesh and Qatar. They also underlined the role of Bangladeshi diaspora in enhancing people to people contact.

Around 100 members of the Bangladeshi academic community in Qatar attended the event.
