GBT News Desk: Bangladesh’s team won a total of 10 medals, including two golds, at the 26th International Robot Olympiad. This year, competitors from 26 countries participated in the event.
A 10-member team from Bangladesh secured two gold medals, four silver medals, and four bronze medals. The information was shared on the official Bangladesh Robot Olympiad’s official Facebook page. The event took place from January 17 to 20 at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Centre (BEXCO) in Busan, South Korea.
On Tuesday, the winners were presented with their medals at the closing ceremony of the Olympiad. The gold medals for Bangladesh were won by Arietti Islam from the Anari team in the Creative Category Junior Group, and Namiya Rojat Nubala from the Seriously Clueless team in the Creative Movie Category Senior Group.
The silver medals were awarded to Arietti Islam from the Anari team in the Physical Computing Junior Group, Nusaiba Tajrin Tanisha from the Zeroth team, Priyanti Das from Team Shifu, and Hasin Ishrak Chowdhury Taha, AZM Imtenan Kabir, and Abrar Abir from the Saf.AI team in the Creative Category Senior Group. The last three earned a silver medal as a team.
The bronze medals were won by Nafia Basar Suhani from The Screw Loose team in the Physical Computing Junior Group, Nusaiba Tajrin Tanisha from the Zeroth team, and Namiya Rojat Nubala from the Seriously Clueless team in the Physical Computing Senior Group. Hasin Ishrak Chowdhury Taha, AZM Imtenan Kabir, and Abrar Abir from the Saf.AI team also won a bronze medal in the Creative Movie Senior Group. The last three earned the bronze medal as a team.
The 7th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad was held in three phases in September and October 2024, organized by the Bangladesh Open Source Network. Based on their performance and eligibility criteria, a 10-member team was selected to represent Bangladesh at the International Robot Olympiad. The team then participated in a two-month, 21-session high-performance camp in preparation.
Md. Nahid Islam, Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, NDC, and Mohammad Anwar Uddin, Director General of the ICT Division, congratulated the Bangladesh team for their outstanding achievement.
