The High Court (HC) on Thursday directed the government to continue the sale of essential commodities by the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) across the country including at the upazila level during the coronavirus pandemic.
A bench of Justice JBM Hasan issued the order after virtual hearing of a writ petition filed by Law and Life Foundation.
Commerce Ministry and TCB chairman were directed to execute the order.
Deputy Attorney General Samarendra Nath Biswash stood for the state while advocate Tapas Kanti Bal represented the Commerce Ministry.
Earlier on June 3, the same bench directed to take necessary steps to sell TCB goods at upazila level within seven days and report progress by June 11.
Commerce Ministry informed the HC that it has issued a letter instructing to sell TCB goods until June 18, across the country.
The writ petition was filed on May 16, seeking expansion of TCB sell to upazila level.UNB
