Senior police officials visited the home in Golighat in North 24 Pargana on the outskirts of Kolkata in Bengal where a crude bomb exploded on Sunday.
Indrajit Kundu: Two persons were killed and another grievously injured after a crude bomb exploded at Kamarhati in the outskirts of Kolkata in North 24 Pargana district on Sunday evening.
The incident took place at a house in Golighat area under ward number two of Kamarhati Municipality. According to locals, the three youngsters were inside the house where the explosion took place. They were rushed to the Sagar Dutta Hospital where doctors declared two of them dead.
Senior officers, including Barrackpore Police Commissioner Manoj Verma visited the spot which has been badly damaged by the explosion. Police are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion and forensic teams are expected to visit the site on Monday.
The incident comes just days after crude bombs were hurled near the residence of Barrackpore BJP MP Arjun Singh in Bhatpara. Barrackpore subdivision in North 24 Parganas district has borne witness to incessant violence ever since former Trinamool Congress lawmaker Arjun Singh jumped ship to join the BJP last year.
