Dhaka Office: The moon of the Arabic month of Zilhaj was sighted in the skies of Bangladesh on Friday evening, so Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslim community, will be celebrated on June 17 in the country.
The National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision at a meeting held at the office of Islamic Foundation in the capital on Friday night.
Minister for Religion Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan chaired the meeting.
On Thursday, the moon was seen in some countries of the Middle East including Saudi Arabia, and accordingly, the holy festival will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia on June 16.
