Tripura Law Minister and senior BJP leader Ratan Lal Nath refuted the allegations levelled by the CPI-M.
NE NOW NEWS: The convoy of former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar was allegedly attacked in the Shanti Bazaar are in South Tripura district on Monday.
The CPI-M has alleged that BJP workers were behind the attack on Manik Sarkar’s convoy.
Sarkar was accompanied by deputy opposition leader Badal Choudhury, MLA Sudhan Das, and former MP Narayan Kar.
The CPI-M has alleged that a large number of BJP supporters including a sizable number of women
assembled in the Shanti Bazaar locality well ahead of Sarkar’s arrival.
As soon as the convoy of Manik Sarkar arrived at the spot, the unruly crowd allegedly started to abuse the former Tripura Chief Minister and also pelted stones and bottles.
Manik Sarkar said that series of attacks have been carried out by miscreants under the instructions of the ruling dispensation.
“The way we are being targeted is unacceptable,” Manik Sarkar said.
Two vehicles including that of Manik Sarkar were damaged in the attack.

“The way people attacked us and abused we are sure it was pre-planned with the instruction of the top leaders of ruling BJP,” said Manik Sarkar.
Meanwhile, speaking to Northeast Now, Tripura Law Minister and senior BJP leader Ratan Lal Nath refuted the allegations levelled by the CPI-M.
SDPO of Santi bazar sub-division Nirupam Datta while speaking to Northeast Now said: “A team of opposition MLAs went to meet a worker of CPI-M in Santi Bazar. People gathered when former Chief Minister Sarkar reached the spot and raised the slogans ‘Go Back’. While returning from the worker’s house, empty plastic water bottles were pelted on the MLAs. However, no one was injured”.
