The CID sleuths on Wednesday raided the residence of ex-DIG of Assam Police, PK Dutta and two of his hotels in Guwahati.
The raids were carried out in connection with the leakage of question paper of written test for sub-inspectors in Assam Police ahead of the commencement of the examination.
However, the CID sleuths could not detain the former Assam Police officer as he escaped along with his family members before the arrival of the investigating team.
The CID sleuths, besides raiding his residence at Rupnagar Path in Hengrabari for hours, also raided his two hotels including Bhargav Grand near the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) and another hotel near Lokhra.
The written test, scheduled to be held on September 20, had to be cancelled as the question paper was circulated on social media hours before the examination.
Earlier, CID wing of Assam Police quizzed Assam BJP leader Diban Deka for his involvement in the leakage of question paper.
Meanwhile, three persons have been picked up for questioning in the cases.
They are Kushal Das, who has been detained from Bamundi in Kamrup Rural, Sanjib Sarma from Noonmati in Guwahati and Dipjyoti Bora from Kheroni in Karbi Anglong district.
The Crime Branch of Assam Police on Wednesday raided Thank You Lodge at Ganeshguri in Guwahati and detained 4 owners of the lodge including Alakesh Baishya, Pranjal Sarma, Bimal Thapa and Pranab Bora.
According to sources, a circle secretly conducted written test for the posts of SI in Assam Police in Thank You Lodge.
A total of 50 candidates sat in the written test on September 19, a day ahead of the actual date of the test.
A hand-written question paper has been recovered from the lodge.
