Mayukh Goswami: An adult male Royal Bengal tiger was found dead in the Ramkong forest camp area of Assam’s Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve on Tuesday.
Later the carcass was set to flames following the guidelines of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
Earlier, the divisional forest officer (DFO) of the Mangaldai Wildlife Division, Pradipta Baruah along with the team consisting of experts from the Veterinary department, representative of the NTCA and media persons rushed to the spot.
The necessary investigation was carried out before conducting the post-mortem to find out the actual cause of the Royal Bengal tiger’s death.
Divisional forest officer Baruah, after the preliminary investigation, suspected ‘territorial fighting’ between two adult male tigers as the cause of death.
According to sources, the Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve presently with an area of less than 80 square kilometers is the natural habitat of around 32 Royal Bengal tigers.
