NE NOW NEWS: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued 501 persons including minor children and women from January to September this year.
RPF also rescued 12 persons including minor boys and girls; who were rescued from trains and stations in different operations conducted over NF Railway from October 20 to 26.
In an incident, based on information received on October 26, 2021, regarding runaway of a girl of Tinsukian (Assam) with a boy and travelling by train No. 05933 DN (Amritsar Express) special, RPF team of Mariani Jn, jointly with GRP staff checked in the said train at Mariani Jn station.
During checking they detected the girl and the boy in a coach of the train. Later, the rescued girl and the boy were handed over to GRP/Mariani Jn for further necessary action.
In another incident on October 25, 2021, RPF team of Mariani Jn while escorting train No. 05669 UP (Guwahati – Dibrugarh Town Express) Special rescued one runaway minor boy of Dima Hasao (Assam).
Later, the rescued boy was handed over to the Director of Child Line, Prerona, Cinnamara, Jorhat (Assam) for safe custody and further course of action.
On October 22, the RPF team of Rangiya while escorting train No. 05618 DN from Naharlagun to Rangiya, rescued one minor boy of Biswanath district of Assam in distress condition.
Later, the rescued boy was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee, Tezpur (Assam) for safe custody and further course of action.
Again on October 22, the RPF team of Kamakhya Post rescued one minor boy from Kamakhya station.
Later, the rescued boy was handed over to Railway Child Line/Guwahati for safe custody and further course of action.
On that day, the RPF team of Lumding rescued one runaway minor girl and a boy who were travelling by train No. 03176 DN (Silchar- Sealdah special).
The matter was informed to family members of the boy and the girl. Later, the rescued girl was handed over to Child Line, Lumding and the boy to his guardian after proper identification.
Moreover, on October 20, the RPF of Chaparmukh, rescued five runaway minor girls from Chaparmukh railway station.
The matter was informed to their parents over the phone and later, all the rescued girls were handed over to their respective parents/guardian after proper identification.
On that day, RPF of Kamakhya Post rescued one minor girl in distress condition from Kamakhya railway station. Later, the rescued girl was handed over to Railway Childline/Guwahati for safe custody and further course of action.
The RPF of N. F. Railway rescued 74 persons from being trafficked during January to September this year.
RPF also apprehended 20 persons during this period who were involved in human trafficking.
