Assam registered 1,057 new COVID19 positive cases in the last 24 hours while 1,593 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the state.
Sharing the dectection of new positive cases, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet at 12.12 am on Sunday said the new positive cases were detected out of 20,805 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
“Alert ~ 1057 COVID cases detected on August 15 out of 20805 tests done in last 24 hours. Our positivity rate continues to be low (today- 5.08%) which gives us confidence,” health minister Sarma tweeted.
The health minister informed that of the positive cases, Kamrup Metro district has reported 293 cases.
In another tweet at 12.19 am on Sunday, the health minister said a total of 1,593 patients were discharged on August 15 after they recovered from the disease.
“Discharge Alert. 1593 patients discharged on Aug 15,” Sarma tweeted.
“Our total number of recovered patients is more than double to that of active patients. Kudos to doctors,” Sarma said.
With the release of 1,593 moire patients, the total number of patients discharged from various hospitals or Covid Care Centres across Assam stands at 53,286.
Assam currently has 22,087 active COVID19 cases.
Seven more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infections in Assam on Saturday, taking the state’s death toll to 182.
Sharing the news, health minister Sarma on Saturday said the victims are from Bongaigaon, Darrang, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Dibrugarh and Nagaon districts.
The COVID19 victims have been identified as Sarita Devi Jain (50) of Bongaigaon; Abdul Wadud (58) of Darrang; Himangshu Ranjan Das (55) of Karimganj; Foyaz Ahmed Laskar (66) of Hailakandi; Nirmal Tamvli (72) & Mridul Khanikar (54) of Dibrugarh and Bharati Hazarika (65) of Nagaon.Nenow
