Over 3.04 lakh people have been affected alone in lower Assam’s Barpeta district, followed by 1.95 lakh people in South Salmara district, 1.17 lakh in Nalbari, 99,000 in Morigaon, 92,000 in Goalpara, 90,400 in Dhemaji, 71,000 in Tinsukia, 52,000 in Dibrugarh, 47,600 in Majuli, 47,000 in Darrang, and 31,700 in Dhubri district.
The flood situation in Assam is worsening day by day with nearly 1.32 million people of 25 districts being affected in the state as on Monday, June 29. Four people drowned in floodwaters in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 24 so far.
As per reports of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), two people drowned in floodwaters in Tengakhat and Moran in Dibrugarh district, while one each died in Chenga in Barpeta district and in Matia area in Goalpara district.
The floodwaters inundated new areas, affecting nearly 1.32 million people in 25 districts out of 33 districts in the state.

According to ASDMA reports, a total of 2,404 villages under 72 revenue circles of 25 districts have been affected in the current flood and 83,168 hectares of croplands are now under water.
Thousands of people have become homeless after floodwaters entered their houses. Over 27,000 people have taken shelter at 273 relief camps.
Meanwhile, more than 11.71 lakh domestic animals have also been affected in the second wave of floods.
NDRF, SDRF teams and districts administration on Monday rescued 10,207 flood-affected people in Dhemaji, Biswanath, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, South Salmara, Dibrugarh, and Morigaon districts.
Following the torrential rains in the past couple of days, water level of the Brahmaputra river and its tributaries are flowing above danger-level marks at many places in the state.
The water levels of Brahmaputra river have crossed danger-level marks in Neamatighat area in Jorhat district, Tezpur in Sonitpur district, Guwahati, Goalpara and Dhubri district, while, Burhidihing river is flowing above the danger-level in Chenimari in Dibrugarh district.
On the other hand, floodwaters have submerged a large part of Kaziranga National Park, Orang National Park, and the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.
A rhino drowned in floodwaters in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Morigaon district on Monday.
In view of the worsening situation, the Assam government has directed all districts administration to take appropriate measures for rescue operations and to provide relief materials to the flood-affected people.
