Bangladesh News Desk: The severe cyclonic storm Remal has claimed 10 lives and damaged fully or partly 1,50,475 houses, said State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Md Mohibur Rahman.
According to the information received so far, a total of 10 people died in Khulna, Satkhira, Barishal, Patuakhali, Bhola and Chattogram districts, he said in a press briefing at the Secretariat in the capital Dhaka on Monday.
Among the deceased, three died in Bhola and Barishal each, and one in Khulna, Satkhira, Patuakhali and Chattogram each, he said.
A total of 10 districts were affected by the cyclonic storm, Mohibur said. These include Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Jhalakathi, Barishal, Patuakhali, Pirojpur, Barguna, Bhola, Feni, Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, Narail, Gopalganj, Shariatpur and Jashore.
The state minister also said the storm affected 37,58,096 people.
The cyclonic storm Remal made landfall in Bangladesh’s coastal area on Sunday night.
