Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin gave some fitness tips to some 25 players of the professional football league including some of national booters in a time of international health crisis like COVID-19 pandemic.
Professional footballers got his guidelines on staying fit on Monday when they called on Salahuddin, the most legendary football star of all times of Bangladesh at the BFF Bhaban in the capital.
Salahuddin has an excellent record as a player and as a coach to triumph the league championship for Abahani Limited for three times at a stretch — two times as a player and for the third time as a coach.
Salahuddin, in last two years of his playing career in 1983 and 84, won the league title and also made an awe-inspiring coaching career retaining the title on his debut in 1985 and made Abahani champions in 1990-91 season.
Salahuddin shared his ideas and experiences with the professional players and tipped them how to keep fit in COVID-19 pandemic that forced the players to keep off from football for more than last four months.
Salahuddin, who enjoyed the time with the professional players seemingly as a coach after a long interval, told The Independent today he guided the youngsters as his responsibility.
“It’s not a matter of enjoyment but I have done it from my sense of duty. And everyone knows, it’s a crisis period due to coronavirus pandemic. Players have been experiencing a difficult situation as there is no scope to have outdoor training in absence of coach. So, I think I should share with the players some of my experiences to boost up their morale,” said Salahuddin.
“Actually, I did not talk to them as a BFF president rather as a former player and coach. I talked to them as a former player not as an official. It was a good time between them and me; in fact, we are like a family,” said the legend.
“Our language is same and they understood me quickly and easily. As they were very much attentive, they gave 100 percent attention to me during my presentation. Overall it was nothing but sharing how they can remain fit,” Salahuddin replied to a query.
Mamunul Islam, who was one of the veteran national booters and former national team’s captain joined the meeting with the BFF president, told The Independent that they enjoyed quality time with the all-time best national star.
Mamunul said that it was very much useful session with the BFF president, who talked with them as a former player and coach when giving us some tips on staying fit.
He also informed that they also appealed to the BFF president about resuming the next season and some dues of players from clubs. Salahuddin assured them to solve all the problems. Source: The Independent BD
