Entertainment Desk: The trailer of the much-awaited biographical film of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be shown for the first time in prestigious Cannes International film festival on Thursday (May 19).
Information and Broadcasting Ministers of both countries Anurag Thakur and Dr Hasan Mahmud are expected to be present on that occasion.
Mr Thakur has already arrived at Cannes while Bangladesh Minister is expected to reach the venue on time. Managing directors of film development corporations of two countries will also be present.
‘Mujib-: The making of a nation’ is an upcoming India-Bangladesh biographical film directed by Indian ace director Shyam Benegal.
The film was scheduled to start production on March 18, 2020, a day after then birth centenary celebration of Bangabandhu. But the COVID pandemic delayed it.
The shooting of the film started on January 21, 2021 at film city of Mumbai and ended this year.
Sources told that the film is likely to be released in September. It is being planned to release it on the birthday of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on September 28.
Bangladeshi Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud came to New Delhi on September 5, 2021 and met his Indian counterpart Thakur.
During that meeting Indian Minister expressed satisfaction over the production of the movie and hoped that it would be completed by March 2022.
It is known that film has already been completed and editing part of is going on. Meanwhile, both governments decided to release the trailer of the film at prestigious Cannes film festival in front of the international audience.
