Saddam Hossain, Dhaka: Bangladesh receives USD 2.07 billion in remittances from its expatriates in November.
The amount soared by 33 per cent in November compared to the same month of the previous year. The amount was USD 1.55 billion in November 2019.
Remittances inflow soared by 41 per cent in the first five months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period of last fiscal year reaching $10.9 billion which was USD 7.71 billion in last FY.
However, growth of remittance inflow slightly decreased in November compared to October this year. Total remittances of November were USD 2.07 billion which was 1.6 per cent less than the inflow of October which were USD 2.11 billion.
Sirajul Islam, spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, said, “Remittances inflow increased due to 2 per cent incentives and expatriates now send remittances in legal way.”
Remarkably, remittances inflows have crossed USD 2 billion in four out of five months in the current fiscal year (July to November) except August alone. In August, the remittances income was USD 1.96 billion.
