The Bangladesh government has taken a decision to rename the Dope Test as Drug Abuse Test, Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Chairman and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said on Wednesday.
While talking to the newsmen after the Cabinet Committee Meeting, Mozammel said that the government employees would be subjected to drug abuse tests at any time after changing the name of the dope tests.
There had been a rule of dope test for recruiting in government jobs, but the result cannot be understood if the test is conducted after 72 hours, he said.
In this situation, the government has decided to rename the dope test as Drug Abuse Test to get immediate results, Mozammel said, adding that a new policy will be adopted to make the test more effective.
Claiming that drug abuse is a very alarming issue for the nation, especially for the young generation, the cabinet committee said all the officials concerned have been asked to remain alert so that drugs cannot enter the country in any way.
The committee has also directed the authorities concerned to close all the routes on which these drugs come to the country, he said.
He also called upon the guardians to remain watchful over their children to keep them away from the drug abuse.
