Assam has registered 572 new COVID19 positive cases, including 380 cases in Guwahati, taking the state’s overall tally to 8,407.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said the citizens need to be cautious more.
“Alert ~ 572 new #COVID19+ cases detected today,” health minister Sarma said.
“Today, 380 cases were reported in Guwahati City alone, and need for caution can’t be overemphasized,” he added.
With the new cases, the number of active COVID19 cases in Assam now stands at 2,745.
Earlier, a total of 5,647 COVID19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam while 3 cases have migrated from the state.
On Tuesday, another person died of COVID19 infection in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 12.
“Total cases 8407. Recovered 5647. Active cases 2745. Deaths 12,” Sarma informed.
On Tuesday, Assam has recorded the biggest single-day spike of 613 cases.
India’s COVID19 tally surged to 5,66,840 on Tuesday and a concerned Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it was cause of worry that people are not strictly adhering to rules and precautions as they did during the lockdown.
India is the fourth worst-affected country after the US, Brazil and Russia.
The number of active cases in India stands at 2,15,125, while 3,34,821 people have recovered, and one patient has migrated.
The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 16,893 people across India so far.
