– The party is currently going through a movement that will be strengthened further in the coming days
– The Awami League is now running the country under dictatorship rule
Zakir Mostafiz Milu, Thakurgaon: BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the spirit of the Liberation War was based on the dream of establishing a democratic state, which the Awami League destroyed through establishing Baksal.
He said that the BNP is politically powerful in Thakurgaon. Although the Awami League misused the law enforcers to harass opposition men, they could not force the BNP to bow down in the district.
Mirza Fakhrul was speaking as the chief guest at a program organized by the district BNP at the public library ground on Thursday. The program was organized in memory of former BNP leader Taimur Rahman, who passed away on March 3, 2024.
Recalling the late leader’s contributions, Mirza Fakhrul said: “We have lost a fighting soldier of Thakurgaon. I cannot forget his contributions to the Liberation War and at every stage of his long political career. He was a consummate politician; he thought of nothing but politics. The organization was strengthened by his prudence and dedication in difficult times.
Mirza Fakhrul said that the party is currently going through a movement that will be strengthened further in the coming days.
The Awami League is now running the country under dictatorship rule, he alleged.
“If this illegitimate government, which was not elected by the people, is allowed to remain in power for long, then it will create a dire situation in the country,” Mirza Fakhrul added.
Finally, he prayed for the departed soul of Taimur Rahman, the former district BNP president and former upazila chairman.
