Bangladesh News Desk: Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed has become the ‘Ninth Colonel of the Regiment’ of the Regiment of Artillery of the Bangladesh Army.
The attractive and eye-catching induction ceremony was held at the Shaheed Major Nazmul Haque Parade Ground of Artillery Centre and School in Halishahar, Chattogram on Monday in accordance with the military customs and traditions.
At the induction ceremony, the senior commander and master warrant officer of the Regiment of Artillery conferred the rank-badge of ‘Colonel of the Regiment’ on the Chief of Army Staff.
On arrival at parade square, the Chief of Army Staff was accorded a formal salute and given a ‘Guard of Honour’ by a smartly turned out contingent of Regiment of Artillery.
Through this ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff took over as the ‘Colonel of the Regiment’, the guardian of the Regiment of Artillery in accordance with the traditional military policy.
At the programme, the Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed directed all the members of the Regiment of Artillery to continue their relentless efforts in fulfilling any responsibility for the country and the nation through determination, professionalism and above all team effort, respecting the customs and traditions of the Army.
The Chief of Army Staff, as the Colonel of the Regiment of the Regiment of Artillery, laid a wreath at the Liberation War Memorial ‘Smriti Vassar’ at the Artillery Centre and School. He also inaugurated the Mujib Battery Road adjacent to the Artillery Centre and school.
At the end of the ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff attended the Annual Commander’s Conference-2022 of the Regiment of Artillery.
He made introductory remarks to the commanders and other officers of all artillery units present at the conference and exchanged views on the development of Regiment of Artillery, enhancement of professional skills and activities conducted at home and abroad.
Apart from the senior officers of the Bangladesh Army, senior officers and unit representatives of the Regiment of Artillery and members of various ranks in the Chattogram area were also present on the occasion.
