Dhaka Office: Former caretaker government adviser, ex-Bar Council president, and publisher of the Daily New Nation newspaper, Barrister Mainul Hosein has passed away.
Confirming the death information, Wahiduzzaman, private secretary of Barrister Mainul Hosein, told the Media that he (Mainul) breathed his last at Evercare Hospital in the capital at 6:00 p.m. today.
Barrister Mainul, grappling with cancer, had been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital. Earlier, he received treatment at this hospital on several occasions, added Wahid.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Baridhara Jame Mosque in Dhaka at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow (Sunday), Wahiduzzaman said, adding that the second janaza will be held on the premises of the Supreme Court after Zohr prayers, and he will be laid to rest beside the graves of his father and mother at Azimpur graveyard.
Barrister Mainul Hosein was an advisor to the caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed in 2007.
He was in charge of law, information, housing and public works and land ministries.
He is the eldest son of eminent journalist Tofazzal Hosein Manik Miah. Chief justice Obaidul Hassan has expressed deep shock at his demise.
