BSS, Dhaka: Lower courts and tribunals across the country have disposed of a total number of 3,15,568 bail pleas through virtual hearing during the strict lockdown period declared by the government.
Supreme Court spokesman and special officer Mohammad Saifur Rahman told BSS that bail applications have been disposed of in 15,340 cases through virtual hearings in lower courts and tribunals across the country from July 30 to August 10.
A total number of 9,622 people were granted bail during these twelve days.
The official also said that due to the coronavirus pandemic situation, the court proceedings were conducted on virtual platforms using information technology from May 11, 2020 to August 10 this year.
A total of 1,60,768 people have been released on bail after a total of 3,15,568 cases were disposed of in virtual hearings in lower courts and tribunals across the country.
Of these, 2,261 children were granted bail through virtual hearing in a juvenile court.
