The Bihar Agriculture Department has sounded a high alert in eight districts sharing borders with Uttar Pradesh to ward-off attack by swarms of locusts on farmlands and plants. Swayed by strong westerly winds, small groups of locusts have been sighted in eastern Uttar Pradesh and along the Bihar border.
