Entertainment Desk: “Amar Bhashar Chalachchitra 1428,” a Bangla film festival, is being held at the TSC premises of Dhaka University. The five-day event, organized by Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS), will run until February 26.
This festival kicked off with Satyajit Ray’s “Aguntuk” at 10am, Giasuddin Selim’s “Monpura” at 1pm, Masud Hasan Ujjal’s “Unoponchash Batash” at 3:30pm and Abdullah Mohammad Saad’s Cannes-selected feature “Rehana Maryam Noor” at 6.30pm.
People from all over the capital visited the TSC premises in droves and formed long queues to buy tickets.

“This year, we have tried to make our festival preparations as eco-friendly as possible. We are also closely adhering to the pandemic safety guidelines. The first-day screenings have drawn audiences from all over Dhaka and we hope to ride on this momentum going forward,” said the General Secretary of DUFS, Mohammad Abu Taher.
Zahir Raihan’s “Jibon Theke Neya,” Enamul Karim Nirjhar’s “Aha,” N Rashed Chowdhury’s “Chandrabati Kotha,” and Anonno Mamun’s “Nabab LLB” will be screened tomorrow, on February 23.
The festival will screen 19 contemporary and classic feature films and one documentary from both Bangladesh and West Bengal over the course of its run.
“Amar Bhashar Chalachchitra” has been regularly organized since 2002 in a bid to commemorate the brave martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement and promote Bangla cinema.
The screenings are open for all. Organized urged everyone interested in attending the screenings to maintain proper Covid safety guidelines.
