Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al-Budaiwi has appreciated the socio-economic growth of Bangladesh attained over the last one decade under prudent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Gulf leader conveyed the appreciation during a call on with Bangladeshi ambassador Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
“Bangladesh has ‘huge’ scope to work together with GCC. The organisation is developing a joint strategy regarding this issue. We also plan first ever ministerial dialogue with Bangladesh soon,” Al-Budaiwi said.
Ambassador Dr Patwary proposed a talk with GCC on sideline of upcoming general assembly of United Nations in September.
“Bangladesh is working towards becoming a high income developed country by 2041 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The bilateral trade with Gulf countries is increasing every year. Investment in Bangladesh from Gulf countries is also increasing,” he said.
The ambassador mentioned that around 5 million of Bangladeshis are contributing to the economy through working from Middle East countries.
Dr Patwary invited Jasem Al-Budaiwi to made a visit to Dhaka.
