Bangladesh missions abroad observed the ‘historic March 7′ Sunday, recalling the epoch-making speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman that inspired the Bengalee nation to fight against the Pakistani forces and bring the independence of Bangladesh in 1971.
Bangladesh Embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Hanoi, Vietnam, Consulate General of Bangladesh in Kunming, China, the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, Japan and the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh, Mumbai observed the historic March 7 with patriotic zeal remembering Bangabandhu’s iconic speech, according to messages received here today. As part of the observance, the messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read out there.
Leaders and representatives of different social, political, cultural professional organizations and a huge number of expatriate Bangladeshis joined the programmes at the respective missions’ premises. Bangladesh Embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan observed the Historic March 7 Speech of Bangabandhu with due solemnity and respect at the Chancery of the Embassy.
The programmes started with playing National anthem and hoisting of National flag by Bangladesh Ambassador Md Zahangir Alam. At the beginning, message from the president was read out by Ambassador Md Zahangir Alam and message of prime minister by Nripendra Chandra Debnath, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission.
The historic March 7 was celebrated with due solemnity and dignity at Consulate General of Bangladesh in Kunming, China. Discussion, meetings and cultural programmes were organized on the occasion.
The Consulate General inaugurated the day’s programmes by hoisting the national flag. Other programmes included wreath-laying at the portrait of Father of the Nation, special prayers and munajat, reading out messages of the President and Prime Minister and screening documentary on March 7 speech.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, Japan celebrated the historic March 7 with due dignity. At the beginning of the ceremony, Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed along with embassy officials and staff paid homage to Bangabandhu’s portrait at the embassy premises in the morning by placing wreaths.
Later, the national flag was hoisted on the premises alongside playing the national anthem.
A ‘one minute silence’ was observed as mark of profound respect to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman there.
Special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members and all the martyrs of the great Liberation War.
Later, messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read out on the occasion of the day. A significant number of Japanese citizens and expatriate Bangladeshis participated in the event.BSS
